Abstract

This article describes the role of Islamic Law in regulating various aspects of human life as religious rules and God's commands. Wedding issues that are always actual and interesting are discussed involving the importance of preparation for the groom and bride as well as in-depth introduction to the background, religion and behavior of the prospective partner. This research was conducted by researchers at the Kasypul Anwar Assembly, Rantau Bulong, Banjang District, Hulu Sungai Utara District, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. The results showed that ta'aruf, the process of getting to know each other, is permissible and recommended before marriage. The findings highlight the significance of knowing different sides of a potential partner's life, with ta'aruf playing an important role in facilitating deeper understanding. Ta'aruf appears as a means to understand the background, family, and daily characteristics of potential partners. The implications of this research show how a good understanding of potential partners through ta'aruf can increase self-confidence in making marriage decisions and has the potential to make marriages happier and of better quality. The importance of prioritizing religious values ​​in the partner selection process and in-depth introduction before marriage was also emphasized.
