THE ROLE OF LEGAL AID IN THE HANDLING OF ISLAMIC CIVIL CASES IN INDONESIA

Abstract

This article examines how LBH Mustika Bangsa Metro carries out its role in handling various cases, especially Islamic civil cases. The approach used is a normative juridical approach. The findings are: LBH Mustika Bangsa operates because it is based on the idea that justice is the goal and hope of every human being. But in many cases, justice is still far from dream. In this case, in achieving justice, citizens have the right to obtain legal assistance. Therefore, the existence of legal aid institutions (LBH) is very important in the midst of society, bearing in mind the principle of equality before the law, moreover most of our people still live below the poverty line. then the lack of legal knowledge is also an obstacle in applying the law in society. What's more, the legal culture and level of legal awareness are still so low. This is where legal aid institutions play a role in providing legal assistance both intellectually and financially free of charge.
